APC Primary Dispute Deepens as Emeka Agbara Heads to Court Over Nsukka/Igboeze-South Outcome
Fresh tension has emerged within the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State following the rejection of the Nsukka/Igboeze-South Federal Constituency primary election outcome by House of Representatives aspirant, Hon. Barr. Emeka Silas Agbara.
Agbara, in a statement issued after the May 16, 2026 primary election, described the exercise as fraudulent and insisted that the mandate of party members was compromised during the process.
According to him, the decision to challenge the outcome is aimed at defending the integrity of the democratic process and protecting the political rights of party members within the constituency.
The aspirant further disclosed that the legal chamber of Ishaka Mudi Dikko, SAN, has been engaged to handle the matter, while all further communication regarding the dispute would now be managed through his legal representatives.
Documents released by his legal team reportedly show that a formal protest letter was submitted to the APC Enugu State Headquarters on May 18, 2026, challenging the conduct of the primary election and requesting Certified True Copies of materials used during the exercise across the constituency.
The protest allegedly cited provisions of the Electoral Act, the 1999 Constitution, and APC primary election guidelines.
Copies of the documents were also reportedly served on top party officials, including the APC Enugu State leadership and relevant national officers of the party.
The development is expected to intensify internal political debates within the party as stakeholders await the next legal and political steps surrounding the disputed primary.
Political observers note that disputes arising from party primaries continue to shape preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections across different political parties in Nigeria.
