Uche Nnaji Says 4 Years Enough to “Recover and Industrialise Enugu State”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Enugu State, Uche Geoffrey Nnaji, has stated that he does not intend to remain in office beyond four years if elected governor.
In a statement attributed to him, Nnaji said his goal is to focus on what he described as “recovery and industrialisation” of Enugu State within a single term.
According to him, the task ahead is not about long-term political occupation but delivering measurable impact within a short period.
“I am so rich and would love to go and enjoy my life after 4 years. I don't need 8 years. I came for recovery. I just want to recover and industrialize Enugu State and I need just 4 years to do this,” he was quoted as saying.
The remark has since generated political reactions, with supporters interpreting it as a sign of confidence in his development plan, while critics question the feasibility of achieving such ambitious goals within a single tenure.
Nnaji has consistently anchored his campaign messaging on industrialisation, job creation, economic restructuring, and improved welfare for citizens across Enugu State.
As political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election, his statement is expected to further fuel public debate around leadership style, governance promises, and development timelines in the state.
