Rotimi Amaechi Wins ADC Presidential Primary with 4,783,834 Votes
Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election.
The result was announced by the faction of the party led by former Senate President David Mark following the conclusion of the nationwide primary exercise.
According to the announced figures, Amaechi secured a total of 4,783,834 votes to emerge victorious in the contest.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar came second after polling 3,963,163 votes, while businessman and presidential aspirant Mohammed Hayatu-Deen finished third with 1,528,552 votes.
The outcome follows days of intense political activities, campaigns, and controversies surrounding the ADC primaries, including allegations of irregularities raised by some aspirants and party stakeholders.
Amaechi’s emergence is expected to reshape political calculations ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as analysts continue to assess the implications of the ADC contest on the broader opposition landscape in Nigeria.
Supporters of the former Rivers governor have since celebrated the victory, describing it as a major step toward consolidating opposition politics ahead of the general election.
