Driving the Renewed Hope Agenda: RMRDC Boss Prof. Ike-Muonso Hails President Tinubu’s Visionary Economic Policies

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Professor Nnanyelugo M. Ike-Muonso, has issued a powerful endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic transformation agenda. Speaking from the RMRDC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, Prof. Ike-Muonso lauded the President's bold policy frameworks, characterizing them as the essential fuel driving Nigeria’s modern industrial revolution and local content development.

​According to the RMRDC boss, the administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda" has successfully cultivated a highly conducive environment for strengthening the nation’s raw materials value chains, boosting local manufacturing, and curbing harmful import dependencies.

Prof. Ike-Muonso noted that the federal government's economic blueprint seamlessly aligns with the statutory mandate of the RMRDC. By prioritizing economic self-reliance, value addition, and domestic resource optimization, the current administration is moving the country firmly away from a commodity-dependent economy into a value-chain-driven industrial hub.

​The DG stressed that these coordinated efforts are critical pillars for achieving President Tinubu's ambitious target of a one trillion-dollar economy, which promises to systematically upgrade living standards and unlock massive employment opportunities for Nigerian youths.

​"This administration's emphasis on economic self-reliance and the growth of the manufacturing sector has reinforced the critical importance of local sourcing," Prof. Ike-Muonso stated. "The federal government's commitment to promoting Made-in-Nigeria products is already yielding highly positive results across key sectors of our economy."

​A central highlight of the commendation was President Tinubu’s landmark "Nigeria First Policy," which legally mandates all federal ministries, departments, and agencies to give absolute priority to locally made products, domestic services, and indigenous contractors in all public procurements. Prof. Ike-Muonso described this policy as an indispensable pillar for sustainable, inclusive economic growth.

​In tandem with these federal directives, the RMRDC has aggressively scaled up its own operations, including a nationwide industrial cluster initiative aimed at transforming local government areas into productive hubs, alongside pushing for the transformative Raw Materials 30% Value Addition Bill.

Reiterating the Council's unyielding commitment, the RMRDC Chief executive stated that his agency will continue to collaborate intimately with private sector innovators, research institutions, and sister government bodies to execute the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

​Prof. Ike-Muonso concluded by calling on public and private stakeholders nationwide to rally behind the Federal Government's industrialization vision. By embracing technological innovation, resource beneficiation, and local sourcing, Nigeria is uniquely positioned to maximize the economic output of its vast natural resources and secure long-term macroeconomic stability.
