Laja Adeoye Secures APM Governorship Ticket, Vows “Reset Lagos” Ahead of 2027 Election
Political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections have intensified in Lagos State following the emergence of Laja Adeoye as the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Adeoye, a former frontline consensus aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was formally presented with the APM governorship nomination form in Lagos over the weekend, marking his official entry into the race under a new political platform.
The nomination form was presented by the Lagos State PDP-APM Alliance Chairman, Barrister (Dr) Amos Fawole, who described Adeoye’s emergence as the beginning of a “Reset Movement” aimed at reshaping governance in Lagos State.
Speaking to journalists, Adeoye explained that his decision to leave the PDP was influenced by ongoing internal legal disputes within the party, which he said created uncertainty and threatened his political ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stated that the APM provides a fresh platform to pursue what he described as a “Reset Lagos Agenda,” focused on rebuilding governance structures and improving service delivery to residents.
According to him, the campaign previously known as the “Better Lagos Agenda” has now been rebranded as “Atunto Eko 1.0,” aligning with broader calls for political and governance reform across Nigeria.
Adeoye pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would prioritize transparency, job creation, infrastructure development, security enhancement, and equitable governance across all parts of Lagos State.
He further expressed confidence that the APM is positioning itself as a strong alternative political platform ahead of the 2027 elections, not only in Lagos but also in other states across the country.
The party leadership in Lagos also described Adeoye’s entry as a major boost to its political structure and electoral prospects, noting that it signals the beginning of intensified political competition in the state.
Analysts say the development reflects increasing political realignments as aspirants across Nigeria reposition themselves ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive 2027 general election season.
As political campaigns gradually take shape, attention is now shifting to how opposition parties will challenge the dominance of the ruling structure in Lagos State.
