House of Reps Aspirant Sues NDC, Demands ₦5 Billion Damages
A House of Representatives candidate has instituted legal action against the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), demanding ₦5 billion in damages over what he described as unlawful actions by the party.
The suit, filed before a competent court, is said to challenge certain decisions and processes undertaken by the party, which the claimant argues undermined his rights and aspirations as an aspirant.
According to reports, the plaintiff is seeking judicial intervention to address the alleged grievances and determine the legality of the party's actions. He is also asking the court to award ₦5 billion in damages for the losses and reputational harm he claims to have suffered.
The development adds to the growing legal and political disputes surrounding party primaries and candidate selection processes ahead of future elections.
As of the time of filing this report, the NDC had not publicly responded to the lawsuit. The matter is expected to be determined by the court in the coming weeks.
More details are expected as proceedings continue.
