The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially declared Monday, June 29 to Friday, July 3, 2026 as National Learning Assessment (NLA) Week in preparation for the country’s first-ever National Learning Assessment exercise.
The assessment is expected to be conducted simultaneously across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), marking a significant step in the country’s effort to evaluate and improve the quality of education.
According to the government, the exercise aims to provide reliable data on students’ learning achievements, identify gaps within the education sector, and guide future policies and interventions aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes nationwide.
Education authorities and relevant stakeholders are expected to collaborate to ensure the successful implementation of the assessment, which is considered a major milestone in Nigeria’s educational development.
The National Learning Assessment is expected to provide policymakers with critical insights that will help strengthen educational planning, enhance academic standards, and promote better learning experiences for Nigerian students.
