Democracy Day: Makinde Assures Efforts to Secure Release of Abducted Pupils, Teachers in Oyo
The Oyo State Government has assured citizens that efforts are ongoing to secure the safe release of pupils and teachers abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinle communities in Oriire Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde gave the assurance in a Democracy Day message to residents, noting that security agencies are actively working to locate and rescue the victims.
According to him, security reports indicate that the abducted persons are believed to still be within the wider Old Oyo National Park axis, a vast forest region that spans several local government areas in the state.
He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security operations, encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity through the state’s emergency toll-free line, 615.
The governor also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that misinformation could disrupt ongoing rescue efforts and endanger lives.
Makinde further appealed to citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies and to keep the victims in their prayers, expressing confidence that efforts are underway to ensure their safe return.
