APC Official Claims Viral Primary Video Is AI-Generated Amid Vote Rigging Allegations

An official of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State has reacted to a viral video circulating on social media from the party’s presidential primary election, claiming that the footage is artificially generated and misleading.

The video, reportedly recorded during the APC primary exercise in Bende Ward on May 23, appeared to show irregularities in vote tallying, sparking allegations of possible manipulation of results.

In the clip, Chief John Okezie was seen handling the vote collation process in a manner that some observers described as questionable, leading to accusations of electoral misconduct aimed at inflating figures for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, responding to the controversy on May 26, Okezie dismissed the video as fake, insisting that it was either AI-generated or digitally altered to misrepresent the actual proceedings.

He further stated that legal action would be taken against individuals responsible for sharing and amplifying the video online, describing it as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and damage reputations.

Meanwhile, official results from the APC presidential primary in Abia State reportedly showed President Tinubu securing a wide margin of victory over his closest challenger, Stanley Osifo.

Despite this, the viral clip has continued to generate debate online, with critics calling for greater transparency in internal party processes and stronger safeguards against electoral disputes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no independent verification of the claim that the video was AI-generated.
