Alex Otti Approves ₦306 Million Tech Grant to Boost Businesses in Abia
Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved a ₦306 million technology-enabled business grant programme known as “NKATA” to support businesses and entrepreneurs across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The initiative, unveiled alongside the management team of the Abia State Technology Skills Acquisition Centre (ATSAC), is designed to empower youths, strengthen small and medium-scale enterprises, and promote innovation-driven economic growth in the state.
Speaking during the unveiling, Governor Otti stated that the programme forms part of his administration’s broader vision of building a productive, self-reliant, and technology-driven economy capable of creating sustainable opportunities for residents.
He explained that beneficiaries would be required to meet specific conditions before accessing the grant, emphasizing that the intervention must deliver measurable impact in areas such as job creation, poverty reduction, business growth, and youth empowerment.
According to the governor, the state government deliberately chose to invest in productive ventures and digital transformation initiatives rather than programmes centered only on consumption.
The NKATA grant initiative is also expected to help businesses adopt technology solutions, improve productivity, and enhance competitiveness within the modern digital economy.
Stakeholders have described the programme as a significant step toward strengthening entrepreneurship, expanding economic opportunities, and positioning Abia as an emerging hub for innovation and enterprise development in Nigeria.
