ADC Primaries: Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi Trade Wins Across States as Factional Results Emerge

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election has recorded varying outcomes across different states, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister Rotimi Amaechi both securing victories in separate state-level exercises.

In Sokoto State, Atiku Abubakar reportedly won with 68,823 votes, defeating Muhammad Hayatuddeen, who polled 319 votes, and Rotimi Amaechi, who scored 292 votes.

In Zamfara State, Atiku also emerged victorious with 60,500 votes, ahead of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who polled 446 votes, and Amaechi, who recorded 191 votes.

Similarly, in Yobe State, Atiku Abubakar secured 44,841 votes, defeating Hayatuddeen with 365 votes and Amaechi with 300 votes.

In Gombe State, Atiku again maintained dominance with 139,334 votes, while Amaechi polled 1,150 votes and Hayatuddeen scored 465 votes.

However, the exercise in Ebonyi State has been marked by controversy, as parallel announcements emerged from different party factions.

One faction, led by Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, declared Rotimi Amaechi winner with 6,050 votes, ahead of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen (4,840 votes) and Atiku Abubakar (1,210 votes).

In contrast, another ADC faction led by Silas Onu announced Atiku Abubakar as the winner in the same state, claiming he polled 15,300 votes, while Amaechi scored 2,200 votes and Hayatu-Deen recorded 200 votes.

The conflicting results have raised questions about internal disagreements within the party and the credibility of parallel declarations emerging from different state structures.

As the primary election continues nationwide, the situation highlights growing tensions and uncertainty within the ADC over the conduct and consolidation of its presidential selection process.
