ADC Knocks Tinubu’s Democracy Day Speech, Says It Is “Long on Promises, Short on Answers”
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reacted to President Bola Tinubu’s Democracy Day speech, faulting it for what the party described as an overreliance on promises without corresponding explanations or solutions to the country’s worsening socio-economic conditions.
In a statement referencing the President’s national address, the opposition party said the speech reflected a pattern of recurring assurances that have not translated into tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians.
The ADC argued that after three years in office, Nigerians expect more than renewed pledges, insisting that governance should be assessed by measurable outcomes rather than repeated commitments.
According to the party, the Democracy Day speech failed to address key concerns such as rising cost of living, insecurity, unemployment, and economic hardship, which continue to affect citizens across the country.
The party maintained that while leadership speeches are important in a democracy, they must be backed by visible results and policy implementation that directly impact the welfare of the people.
The ADC called on the administration to move beyond rhetoric and focus on delivering practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges, stressing that citizens are more interested in results than promises.
