WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY 2026: CHIEF UCHE NNAJI SALUTES TEACHERS, CALLS EDUCATION THE CORNERSTONE OF ENUGU’S RECOVERY AND INDUSTRIALIZATION
ENUGU, NIGERIA — On the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026, Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji (Nwakaibie) has joined citizens across Enugu State and global communities to honor teachers, describing their daily dedication and sacrifice as the foundational driver of human capital and social progress.
In an official statement issued by the Lion Building Media Team, Chief Nnaji reaffirmed that education remains a central, non-negotiable pillar in his strategic vision to recover, rebuild, and industrialize Enugu State. He stressed that sustainable economic transformation, modern industrial growth, and civic stability are impossible without a well-educated youth population and a valued teaching workforce.
Chief Nnaji raised critical concerns over current public educational policies, pointing out that poorly implemented initiatives and public school disruptions have forced many children out of the classroom across various communities. He emphasized that every child in Enugu State deserves unhindered access to quality learning environments, irrespective of socio-economic background.
Highlighting a track record of supporting educational development, the release noted Chief Nnaji’s past interventions as a former Minister, during which he provided scholarships to indigent students and distributed essential learning materials to underserved youth.
Key positions outlined in his message include:
Teachers as Nation-Builders: Recognizing educators not merely as civil servants, but as key architects of character development and human capital creation who deserve proper recognition, competitive remuneration, and institutional respect.
Educational Inclusion: Guaranteeing that public policy prioritizes getting out-of-school children back into functional classrooms rather than relying on performative or flawed school initiatives.
Strategic Investment in Human Capital: Aligning educational curriculum and teacher training directly with the future industrial and technological needs of Enugu State.
Commending teachers across Enugu State and Nigeria for their perseverance, Chief Nnaji assured the teaching community that their sacrifices remain the bedrock of the state's future, promising a renewed commitment to educational reform as Enugu prepares for a brighter horizon.
