Uche Nnaji Calls for Renewed Commitment to Democracy, Unity and Good Governance on June 12
Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji has joined millions of Nigerians in commemorating Democracy Day, calling on citizens to protect and strengthen the country's democratic institutions for future generations.
In a Democracy Day message released on June 12, Nnaji described democracy as a system that empowers citizens, promotes justice, and guarantees every individual a voice in national affairs.
According to him, sustaining democracy requires the collective effort of all Nigerians through active participation, respect for the rule of law, and commitment to national development.
"As a defender of democratic values, I remain committed to justice, equality, accountability, and the rule of law. I believe in a Nigeria where every citizen is respected, every vote counts, and every voice contributes to building a better nation," he stated.
The former minister emphasized the importance of unity, fairness, and inclusive governance, noting that these principles remain essential to building a stronger and more prosperous country.
He urged Nigerians to use the occasion of Democracy Day to reflect on the nation's democratic journey and renew their dedication to protecting the freedoms and rights that democracy guarantees.
Nnaji further expressed optimism about Nigeria's future, stressing that with collective effort, responsible leadership, and citizen participation, the country can achieve sustainable growth and greater national cohesion.
The June 12 Democracy Day celebration commemorates Nigeria's democratic struggles and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made in the pursuit of democratic governance and civil liberties.
"Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and more inclusive Nigeria for all," Nnaji said while wishing Nigerians a happy Democracy Day.
