TRAGEDY IN ANAMBRA: FRESH GRADUATE AND BOYFRIEND RECOVERED DEAD FROM COLLAPSED OKO HOSTEL

Tears and tributes have poured in across social media following the tragic recovery of the bodies of a young couple, Vivian Chinedum and Ifeanyi Stanley, from the rubble of the collapsed three-storey hostel in Amaokpala, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The 60-room private student facility, known as Elite Five Star Lodge, caved in late Sunday night, July 26, 2026. According to close associates, Ifeanyi, a popular Moniepoint POS distributor affectionately known as "Don Cash," had gone to visit Vivian at her apartment around 10:45 p.m. shortly before the entire structure collapsed, trapping both beneath tons of concrete debris.

Both Vivian and Ifeanyi were alumni of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where Vivian operated a baking business while Ifeanyi managed his financial services distribution agency. Friends and former classmates expressed deep heartbreak over the untimely loss of the industrious young couple, describing them as dedicated, hardworking, and deeply committed to building a bright future together.

Distressed friends and community members have taken to platforms like Facebook to mourn the pair. In an emotional tribute, Ganobi Precious Ifeanyichukwu described Vivian and Ifeanyi as an exceptionally promising and hardworking couple whose lives were cut short in their prime. Emergency responders and local authorities continue to clear the site as technical investigations into the structural failure of the building proceed.
