Tonye Cole Withdraws From Rivers APC Governorship Race Ahead of Primaries
Businessman and politician Tonye Cole has announced his withdrawal from the Rivers State governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress.
In a statement released ahead of the scheduled primaries, Cole said his decision followed consultations with stakeholders and was taken in the interest of party unity and stability.
He also noted that he would support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming election.
The withdrawal comes just before the APC governorship primaries in Rivers State, which are part of wider preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Political observers say the development may reshape the dynamics of the contest within the state chapter of the party.
Further reactions are expected from party stakeholders as the primaries approach.
