“THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, WHY INVADE MY PRIVACY?”: CHIEF UCHE NNAJI CONDEMNS ENSSAA’S RAID ON HIS CAMPAIGN OFFICE AMID PENDING COURT CASE

Chief Uche Geoffrey Nnaji (Nwakaibeya), PDP Governorship aspirant for Enugu State, has strongly condemned the Enugu State Structures for Signage and Advertisement Agency (ENSSAA) following an aggressive raid on his personal campaign office situated along Abakaliki Road.

In an official press statement, Chief Nnaji detailed how agency officials invaded his premises and tore down lawfully displayed posters and political materials. The raid occurred despite an active lawsuit challenging the state's signage policy before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where a Motion on Notice had already been served on the relevant state authorities.

Chief Nnaji raised fundamental questions regarding the administration’s respect for the judicial process, asking, "Why the haste? Why destroy first when the court is already seized of the matter?" He cautioned that relying on state regulations like the ENSSAA Law No. 12 of 2016 does not grant government authorities immunity from respecting due process, fundamental rights, and ongoing court proceedings.

Characterizing the government's heavy-handed tactics as part of an ongoing "Destroy Enugu First Campaign," Chief Nnaji affirmed that he will not be intimidated or deterred from pursuing his democratic rights through legitimate legal channels. He urged the state government and its enforcement agencies to exercise restraint, respect the rule of law, allow the judiciary to determine the legality of the signage policy, and "let Enugu breathe."
