PDP Announces Senator Sandy Onor as Consensus Presidential Candidate for 2027 Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially announced Senator Sandy Ojang Onor as its consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The decision was reached after a series of consultations and screening exercises conducted by the party’s leadership structure as part of preparations for the upcoming national elections.

Party officials stated that the consensus arrangement was aimed at strengthening internal unity, reducing post-primary disputes, and positioning the PDP for a stronger contest in 2027.

Senator Sandy Onor, a former lawmaker who represented Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, has been described within party circles as a figure capable of mobilizing grassroots support and re-energizing the party’s national structure.

In his acceptance remarks, Onor reportedly expressed appreciation to party leaders and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to run a campaign focused on national recovery, economic revival, and improved governance delivery.

The PDP leadership further emphasized that the consensus approach reflects its commitment to internal democracy while ensuring the emergence of a broadly acceptable candidate ahead of the general elections.

Political observers say the development marks a significant step in the party’s strategy as it prepares to challenge for national leadership in 2027.
