INEC Begins Final Voter Register Update Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission has officially commenced the final stage of nationwide voter register update as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the commission, the exercise is aimed at ensuring a clean and credible voter database by removing duplicate records, correcting biometric errors, and updating voter information across all states.
The process will also allow eligible voters to verify their details, transfer polling units where necessary, and correct any inconsistencies in their registration records.
INEC stated that the exercise is part of ongoing reforms designed to improve transparency, credibility, and public confidence in Nigeria’s electoral system.
The commission has urged all eligible voters to participate actively by visiting designated centres within their local government areas.
