I’M AN INCURABLE ROMANTIC”: NOLLYWOOD LEGEND RMD REVEALS HE GAVE HIS FIRST ₦100 MILLION CHEQUE TO HIS WIFE
Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has opened up about his romantic nature, revealing that he once handed over his first ₦100 million cheque directly to his wife, Jumobi Adegbesan-Damijo.
Speaking during an interview on The Morayo Show, the 65-year-old screen icon described himself as an "incurable romantic" who enjoys showering his wife with valuable gifts. RMD explained that expressing affection has evolved over time, noting that modern expressions of love require tangible gestures rather than traditional sentimentality.
"I'm an incurable romantic. These days, it isn't about flowers and chocolates anymore because ladies like money," he remarked.
Recalling the milestone moment when he received his first ₦100 million payout, the actor disclosed that he immediately instructed his manager to pass the entire sum to his wife. When she inquired whether the funds were meant for their children's upkeep, RMD insisted she keep the money for her personal use, adding playfully that he knew most of it would naturally go toward family needs anyway.
RMD noted that one of the greatest compliments he receives is knowing that the significant items in their home were purchased by him, emphasizing that he delights in giving her the very best so she never has to ask for anything.
The couple married in 2000, four years following the passing of RMD's first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel. Celebrating 25 years of marriage, the Delta-born actor and former television presenter continue to share a strong union alongside their four children.
