GRASSROOTS ECONOMIC RELIEF: CHIEF KINGSLEY NWEKE (ODAA OPUO) PLEDGES BUSINESS GRANTS FOR 1,000 PETTY TRADING WOMEN IN ENUGU EAST

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flagbearer for Enugu East Senatorial District, Chief Dr. Nweke Kingsley Chizoba, widely known as Odaa Opuo, has announced an immediate intervention targeted at boosting local commerce across the six local government areas of Enugu East.

Appearing on The VAR Podcast, Chief Nweke disclosed plans to distribute non-repayable business grants to nearly 1,000 women involved in petty trading. The legislative candidate emphasized that while macroeconomic policies often take time to trickle down, direct financial support for micro-entrepreneurs provides immediate relief to families struggling under high inflation and shrinking household incomes.

Reflecting on his record as a private businessman and philanthropist, Chief Nweke noted that empowering women in petty trade creates a multiplier effect across entire communities, ensuring that basic household needs are met while expanding local market liquidity. He reaffirmed that his legislative agenda for 2027 will prioritize sustainable micro-credit frameworks, institutional backing for local cooperatives, and vocational support for young traders.

The announcement has resonated strongly across trading hubs in Enugu East, reinforcing Chief Kingsley Nweke’s platform as one rooted in practical action, enterprise protection, and tangible economic relief for the grassroots.
