Former Defence Information Director Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar and Wife Reportedly Kidnapped in Katsina
Retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, a former Director of Defence Information, and his wife have been reportedly kidnapped by suspected armed bandits in Katsina State.
According to multiple verified reports from security and media sources, the incident occurred on Saturday along the Katsina–Matazu road while the retired senior military officer was travelling with his wife.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the attackers intercepted the couple’s vehicle and whisked them away to an unknown location. It was also reported that the driver of the vehicle managed to escape the scene despite sustaining gunshot injuries during the attack.
Security sources indicate that the vehicle belonging to the retired general was later recovered and taken to a nearby police station for investigation.
The development has triggered renewed concern over the security situation in parts of the North-West, where cases of kidnapping and armed attacks have continued to affect residents, commuters, and high-profile individuals.
Military and security sources say efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the abducted couple, though no official confirmation of their whereabouts has been released at the time of filing this report.
Authorities are yet to issue a comprehensive public statement on the incident.
The case adds to growing calls for intensified security operations in affected regions as communities continue to demand stronger protection of lives and property.
