“Every Vote Counts” — Femi Olamijulo Urges Nigerians to Participate in Elections
Femi Olamijulo, founder of E Don Kast, has called on Nigerians to take electoral participation more seriously, emphasizing that every single vote can make a significant difference during elections.
Speaking during a civic engagement discussion linked to the #CitizenMonitorsLive and #CitizenMonitors72hrs initiatives, Olamijulo argued that the outcome of elections can sometimes be determined by very narrow margins across polling units.
According to him, many citizens wrongly assume that one vote has little impact, whereas electoral history has repeatedly shown that small margins can shape leadership outcomes at both state and national levels.
“APC won the 2023 elections with an average margin of 10 votes across all polling units. If you think your one vote doesn’t matter, you are very wrong,” he stated.
His comments have sparked conversations online about voter turnout, civic responsibility, and the importance of active citizen participation in democratic processes.
Political observers note that voter apathy remains one of the major challenges affecting elections in Nigeria, particularly among young people who often express frustration over governance yet fail to participate fully during elections.
Advocates of electoral reforms and civic engagement continue to encourage Nigerians to register, obtain their voter cards, monitor electoral processes peacefully, and participate actively in choosing leaders at all levels.
The remarks come as political parties and civil society groups intensify preparations and mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
