EFCC ARRESTS SUSPENDED CITY BOY MOVEMENT WOMEN LEADER, HALIMAT TEJUOSHO, OVER ALLEGED CONTRACT AND APPOINTMENT FRAUD
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Halimat Adenike Tejuosho, a high-profile political campaigner and suspended South-West Zonal Coordinator of the women’s wing of the City Boy Movement, over allegations of financial fraud.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Tejuosho was taken into custody on September 8 following an extensive investigation into complaints of obtaining money by false pretence. The arrest comes months after the anti-graft agency publicly declared the 41-year-old businesswoman wanted in connection with an ongoing fraud inquiry.
Investigative reports reveal that Tejuosho was previously interrogated over claims that she solicited funds from individuals under the pretext of securing federal government appointments and lucrative contracts. Victims were allegedly issued forged documents and fake appointment letters to substantiate her influence within government circles.
Following the EFCC’s wanted declaration, the leadership of the City Boy Movement—a political support group associated with President Bola Tinubu’s administration—suspended Tejuosho from her leadership position to preserve the group's ethical standards and ensure an unhindered investigation. The anti-graft commission has indicated that prosecution proceedings will commence upon the conclusion of formal interrogations.
