DAVIDO ADVOCATES MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT, PROPOSES THERAPY CENTER FOR FORMER CELEBRITIES

International Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has raised public awareness around the mental health challenges experienced by highly successful public figures. Reflecting on his own journey in the music industry, the award-winning musician admitted that early in his career, he struggled to understand how wealthy and famous individuals could experience sadness or emotional distress. However, as his career expanded globally, he came to appreciate the immense pressure, public scrutiny, and emotional strain that accompany extreme visibility and fortune.

Speaking on the psychological toll of fame, Davido emphasized that while financial success provides material security, it also introduces unique personal pressures. He noted that maintaining relevance and protecting a legacy require constant vigilance, while the shift from global acclaim to public criticism or relative obscurity can be emotionally jarring. To illustrate his point, the singer referenced global football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, observing that despite achieving historic milestones and winning major trophies, the athlete still faced harsh public mockery following Portugal's exit from the 2026 World Cup.

To address these mental health challenges, Davido revealed his desire to build a dedicated mental health therapy center specifically designed for famous individuals and former public figures transitioning out of the spotlight. He explained that public figures need specialized support systems to process the rapid transition from peak fame to normal life, highlighting the necessity of creating safe spaces to discuss mental well-being within the entertainment and public sectors. Expressing gratitude for his ability to manage his personal resources and navigate career pressures effectively, Davido reaffirmed that money alone cannot resolve emotional struggles, making structured psychological support vital for long-term well-being.
