Chief Uche Nnaji Condemns Political Thuggery Following Violent Attack and Vandalism at Agbani PDP Gathering

A violent assault on a political gathering in Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area, has drawn fierce condemnation from Chief Uche Nnaji (Nwakaibie), who described the destruction of property and intimidation of citizens as unacceptable political barbarism.

The attack, reported by outlets including Sahara Reporters, saw suspected political thugs invade the meeting venue, systematically destroying canopies, chairs, sound systems, and event infrastructure valued at millions of Naira shortly before proceedings commenced.

Reacting to the incident, Chief Uche Nnaji expressed deep outrage over the escalating reliance on force, vandalism, and political intimidation. He emphasized that true democratic leadership is built on persuasive governance, public trust, and a strong record of performance—not the deployment of violent proxies to disrupt peaceful political gatherings.

The core issues highlighted by Chief Uche Nnaji and political observers regarding the Agbani attack focus on critical governance concerns:

Strong Condemnation of Political Violence: Chief Uche Nnaji called for an immediate end to sponsored political thuggery, stressing that Ndi Enugu must not be subjected to fear, harassment, or property loss for participating in peaceful political meetings.

Questions Over Political Desperation: Nnaji questioned why an administration claiming widespread public satisfaction and performance would tolerate or benefit from the violent suppression of political competition and opposition assemblies.

Urgent Call for Security Action: He appealed directly to law enforcement agencies and relevant security command centers in Enugu State to conduct a thorough investigation, identify the masterminds behind the Agbani vandalism, and bring perpetrators to justice.

Protection of Democratic Spaces Ahead of 2027: Emphasizing that the 2027 electoral contest must remain a peaceful battle of policy, credibility, and service delivery, Nnaji urged supporters across the state to remain calm, reject provocation, and refuse to be drawn into retaliatory violence.

The attack in Agbani underscores the urgent need for state authorities and security apparatuses to guarantee equal protection and peaceful assembly for all political stakeholders across Enugu State.
