Catholic Diocese of Enugu Rejects Planned Political Endorsement Rally ,Bars use of Church facility.

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu has officially dissociated itself from a proposed political endorsement rally reportedly organized in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Enugu State Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, reaffirming its policy against the use of Church facilities for partisan political activities. In a disclaimer issued by the Diocese, the Church clarified that a media announcement publicizing a "Historic Endorsement Rally and Adoption Ceremony," scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, at Jubilee Hall, Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu, was released without its authorization or approval. The Diocese stressed that Jubilee Hall, along with all other ecclesiastical facilities under its jurisdiction, is not available for political rallies, endorsements, campaigns, or any other partisan political engagements. It maintained that permitting such activities would be inconsistent with the Church's established principles and policies. According to the statement, the proposed event neither reflects the position nor enjoys the endorsement of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu. Consequently, the rally will not take place at Jubilee Hall, Holy Ghost Cathedral, as earlier announced. While expressing regret over any confusion the unauthorized announcement may have created among the public, the Diocese reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the neutrality and sacred purpose of its institutions.
