APC Releases List of Senatorial Candidates Across States Ahead of 2027 Elections
The All Progressives Congress (All Progressives Congress) has released a consolidated list of its senatorial candidates across multiple states following the conclusion of party primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The list, which covers several senatorial districts nationwide, features prominent political figures, former governors, sitting senators, and party stakeholders who emerged through competitive primary elections conducted by the party.
Among the notable names listed are former Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former governors Hope Uzodimma and Yahaya Bello, as well as several serving and former lawmakers who secured party tickets to contest for Senate seats.
In the South-East, the list includes candidates for Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Imo States, reflecting the party’s effort to strengthen its presence in the region ahead of the general elections.
Party sources note that the release represents a major step in consolidating internal democratic processes, although several senatorial districts remain unresolved due to zoning disputes, internal disagreements, and logistical challenges affecting the conduct of primaries in some areas.
The APC further clarified that the pending constituencies will be addressed through additional party consultations and possible rerun primaries where necessary, in line with its electoral guidelines.
Political observers say the list provides early insight into the party’s strategy ahead of 2027, especially as high-profile candidates are expected to intensify campaigns in their respective districts.
However, stakeholders also caution that the political landscape may still shift as appeals, substitutions, and court cases related to primary elections continue to emerge.
The party is expected to officially harmonize all outstanding issues before final submission of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
